This package introduces a first version of fractal image compressor and decompressor
for grayscale images. IFS View is a freeware utility program that creates and reads
fractal image compressed files. It illustrates advantages and disadvantages of
relatively new compression scheme based on fractals.
To encode an image you have to open a *.bmp or *.tif file and start calculations.
You can specify encoding setting: method of compression, and number of bits for
brightness and contrast to use. Full compression is very slow but gives a better
quality of encoded image. Using M.C. compression you can achieve a faster compression
by variation of its parameter from 10 up to 100. After compression is completed, you
must save the encoded image in *.ifs file.
To decode an image you have to open an *.ifs file and increase the number of ite-
rations. The required image will appear after about 5-6 iterations. After that, you
can save this image in BMP format.

Note: Sometimes, when closed the IFS View main or child window, you should wait for
a few seconds. At this moment the program does not response.
